The meetinghouse of the Universalist Unitarian Society of Amherst, dating from 1893, is well loved and well located but undersized, energy inefficient, and partially inaccessible to disabled people. This study was conducted to investigate the feasibility and relative cost of three options for renovation and construction to address these and other concerns.
Amherst College - Off-Campus Dormitories

A 13-building master plan for modernization of the College’s inventory of off-campus student residences, buildings constructed originally as fraternities and acquired by the College in the 1980s.
Forest Park Zoo

Working with Denig Design Associates of Northampton, Massachusetts, KRA provided the architectural components to a master plan for this small municipal zoo.
Indian Orchard Riverwalk
Indian Orchard, Massachusetts
Working with the Williams Group of New York, NY, Amherst, MA and Westport, CT, Kuhn Riddle provided conceptual design and physical planning for a revitalization program for this Springfield, Massachusetts village. The plan capitalizes on dramatic natural water features in close proximity to the commercial center of the village, recommending a community plaza and riverwalk.
The Common School
Amherst, Massachusetts
The Common School is a progressive elementary school on a small campus in Amherst, Massachusetts. The School is in collaboration with the adjacent Hitchcock Center and Bramble Hill Farm to create a learning community around sustainability, farming and nature. Kuhn Riddle was asked to provide a campus master plan in response to the School’s desire to undertake a moderate expansion, from about 115 students to about 160, in the context of that collaboration.
